We at E.L. Cord Child Care Center believe in supporting the development of the whole child. Our curriculum is designed to focus on the creative. emotional, intellectual. physical, and social growth of each individual. The purpose of our approach is to foster competency in the young child. While the emphasis is on children, family involvement is encouraged and supported. The center is a nationally accredited early learning program that provides best practice experiences for future early childhood education teachers. Eco-Healthy Child Care? (EHCC) certified. This national program partners with child care professionals to eliminate or reduce environmental health hazards found within or around child care facilities. Creating an environmentally healthy early learning environment is key to the health of every child and employee. Through the EHCC endorsement, child care facilities qualify as ?Eco-Healthy? by complying with 24 of 30 simple, free or low-cost environmental health best practices. These changes immediately benefit the well-being of young children.

How long have you been in business?
E.L Cord Child Care Center opened its doors in August of 1992.
What is your primary product or service?
Early Care and Education - providing accredited high-quality child care and education to children birth to 5 years of age. Providing a safe, fun and educational environment so that parents and family members can go about their day knowing that their most precious gift is in good hands. Our focus is on children and our programming prepares each child for their educational future. The Center is a college lab site that provides experience to future early childhood teachers and administrators.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was asked to help the child care center make money and improve quality. We have been extremely successful at both, and more. I have a BA in Early Education, a MAT in ECE/Human development and Family Studies and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are a teaching laboratory for Truckee Meadows Community College. We exemplify high-quality early care and education for young children. We take theory to practice in teacher training methods, early education and sound business practice.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
1-location. No plans to expand. Indoor - 9500 square feet, Outdoor - 12,000 square feet.
